Medal of Honor: Allied Assault wasn't the first game in the Medal of Honor series but it was the definitive one an action-packed first-person shooter that not only delivered thrills but also evoked the terror and heroism of the Second World War. The game's iconic D-Day landing sequence inspired by the film Saving Private Ryan remains a classic of the genre today. The game spawned a series of sequels and spinoffs.
Thrilling battle action
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault follows a young Army Ranger officer through a variety of dangerous missions during WWII. Although the game is most famous for its pitched battle sequences most of its missions are more traditional shooter fare. The missions are varied and entertaining although the mid-game Omaha Beach set piece is undoubtedly the most memorable. For fans of the Medal of Honor franchise there are cameos by or references to the protagonists of the other games in the series.
